After launching our Project to raise £142,000 to restore our magnificent Harrison Pipe organ in July 2014, by the end of July 2017, we have raised £83,894!
Only another £58,206 to pay back the loan from Church General Funds!!
Small gifts continue to trickle in; lots of bronze coins, even 5 and 10p peices; which all add up and turn into POUNDS!GIFT AID repayments from the Tax office add a further percentage so if you are a Taxpayer, please “giftaid’ your donations.
Several people who are involved with St. Silas Church have lost loved ones during the period since the fund began, and a recent large bequest from the estate of JOAN HILTON boosted the fund tremendously.
if you would like to donate, you can send a cheque to Jean Brindle, 28, Springwood Close, Walton Park, Preston PR5 4AF, made payable to St Silas PCC organ Fund.
THE OPENING RECITAL, AN ” ORGAN EXTRAVAGANZA” was given by
NIGEL OGDEN; on JUNE 4TH, 7.30PM,
in St. Silas Parish Church, Preston New Rd, Blackburn, and we made nearly £1000 profit.
THE ORGAN is REBUILT AND SOUNDING MAGNIFICENT!
Our most recent concert, played stunningly by JONATHAN SCOTT, RAISED A FURTHER £700, AND WAS A SIGHT TO BOTH HEAR AND BEHOLD! We intend to ask him back again next year.
The organ account will now be changed to one entitled General Fundraising, so that the money can be used for the whole church Community.
Come to see our lovely Church, and hear our magnificent organ during 2017!
THE EVENTS PROGRAMME COVERS A WIDE VARIETY, so should appeal to everyone, SO JOIN US WHENEVER YOU CAN!
